Neil Madill
Membership & Communications Manager since 2020

Originally from Ontario, Neil Madill has worked at Marine Drive Golf Club for 15 years. After graduating from Simon Fraser University with a BA in Communications and Publishing he started as Receptionist at Marine Drive in 2010 and has since worked his way up to Executive Assistant / Communications Coordinator, and most recently Membership & Communications Manager in 2020. With a passion for golf, Neil is dedicated to creating dynamic and impactful communications to enhance the member and staff experience at Marine Drive Golf Club. He has been an active member of the Club Management Association of Canada since 2015.

John Glendinning
Chief Operating Officer since November 2023

Originally from England, John Glendinning, brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Slaley Hall,  Close House and most recently, eight years at The Wisley in the UK. With Marine Drive Golf Club recently celebrating its 100^th anniversary in 2022, John brings the leadership, capital planning and member service experience to guide the Club into an exciting future.

Padraic O’Rourke
Director of Golf since November 2022

Padraic O’Rourke is from Ireland where he fell in love with the game of golf. He continued his professional development at premier historic clubs including Pine Valley Golf Club in New Jersey and Ballybunion Golf Club in County Kerry, Ireland. Before working at Marine Drive Golf Club, he was the Director of Golf at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club for nine years. He’s very active with the PGA of BC and continues to play competitively with his fellow PGA of Canada colleagues at events across Canada.  He was awarded the PGA of BC Golf Professional of the Year in 2020, Executive Professional of the Year in 2022, and helped lead Marine Drive Golf Club to win PGA of BC Golf Shop of the Year in 2024, and Competitive Junior Program of the Year in 2024.

Padraic and his team run some of the best amateur golf events in Canada and provide a great atmosphere to develop coaching, retail, event management, and golf operations.

Fun fact: Marine Drive Golf Club was actually the first golf course he played in Canada.

Jamie Robb
Golf Course Superintendent since April 2019

Jamie Robb is from Ontario and has extensive experience at some of Canada’s premier clubs including Weston Golf and Country Club, The National Golf Club of Canada, Hamilton Golf and Country Club, The Toronto Golf Club and The Mississauga Golf and Country Club. Prior to joining Marine Drive Golf Club, Jamie worked at Capilano Golf and Country Club, which is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in Canada, for 12 years, 8 of which was in the position of Course Superintendent. He is a Past President of the BC Golf Superintendents Association and has helped 19 former employees reach the position of Golf Course Superintendent or beyond.

Jamie and his team provide a great environment for staff to start and develop a career in turf maintenance. For those new to the industry, we are excited to teach new staff everything you need to know about golf and turf maintenance.

Ann Chow
People & Culture Manager since July 2022

Before landing her dream job at Marine Drive Golf Club, Ann gained extensive experience in Operational and HR roles, supporting front-line teams at Article, Rogers, and WestJet. Her passion for delivering exceptional care to both members and employees drives her commitment to inspiring, motivating, and retaining top talent while championing our Core Values. Since joining Marine Drive, she has enhanced our hiring processes, improved retention, and strengthened employee engagement. Her continual focus on training and development initiatives will only help to contribute to increased employee satisfaction, professional growth, and success across the organization.

Rebecca Loat
Food & Beverage Director since August 2024

Rebecca Loat comes with over 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry, leading teams at Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Craft Beer Market, and most recently as Food & Beverage Director at Capo & The Spritz at the OPUS Hotel. Known for her exceptional interpersonal & communications skills, she fosters positive relationships with members, guests, and staff while building a culture of excellence and member satisfaction by focusing on staff training and development.

Jurgen Jurgens (JJ)
Executive Chef since August 2024

JJ’s work experience includes the Kingfisher Resort and Spa on Vancouver Island, after which he went on to complete his apprenticeship at the Sutton Place Hotel, and continued his leadership development with the JOEY Restaurant Group. Most recently, he served as the Regional Director of Operations at OEB Breakfast Company. JJ was a proud member of Team BC at the Culinary Olympics in 2008 and has had the honour of cooking at the James Beard House in New York City in 2010. His passion for innovative cuisine, leadership, and business acumen elevates our member dining experience while fostering and developing young talent to become the next leaders in the industry.

Brian Dicken
Facilities Manager since 2020

Brian oversees the maintenance and security of the clubhouse and Links facilities as well as leading our locker room, maintenance and janitorial service teams.

Brian was previously the Operations Manager at Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club from 2014 to 2019 where he was responsible for the overall maintenance and housekeeping of the facility which included 16 Tennis Courts, 5 Squash Courts and 6 Badminton Courts, a Fitness Centre and pool/hot tub. Prior to that, he worked 6 years in the Seniors Housing Industry managing Independent Living Communities for Amica Mature Lifestyles and 10 years with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts in progressive roles in Housekeeping and Front Office operations.

Emily Sum
Director of Finance since 2008

Originally from Hong Kong, Emily Sum grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia and settled in Vancouver where she worked as an Assistant Director of Finance for Westin Bayshore Hotels for 10 years. Her extensive experience in accounting in the hotel industry complements her transition to a golf club where she runs our small and strong accounting department. Emily supports all departments with management and financial guidance in both operations and capital planning to ensure Marine Drive Golf Club is fiscally responsible while providing an exceptional experience to members, guests and staff.
